About
Taupe is a curated online platform for thoughtful design research driven by a network of artists, designers + writers.
The inaugural edition of Taupe – released Fall 2019 – was a prismatic exploration of true color. From dream chromatics, to truth and deep fakes; this issue examined the way in which our world is shaped by color, and how color is shaped by semiotics, science, the subconscious and our screens.
For this issue of Taupe, we have created a visual representation of our network from collated interpretations to assemble a collective aesthetic. Within this macro-thematic perspective, patterns of color, shape, and materiality emerged, forming a unified Gesamtbild depicting the connective mystery between the Above and Below.
In the future, we aim to evolve and refresh the platform with unique meditations on digital color, collective aesthetics, literature, and science.
Acting as a group, the core members of Taupe each bring their own design expertise:
Jamie Raap: Creative producer/ facilitator based in Berlin.
@jamieraap
Rosie Flanagan: Arts and culture writer from Australia, based in Berlin, Germany.
@rosieflan
Nina Muro: Art director and graphic designer based in Berlin, Germany.
